Native to Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, my life has been a meandering path that has taken me far and wide. I am happy to be back and using the tools I have gathered along the way.
I have always been a contemplative person which has led to years of poetry writing and journaling, a degree in environmental literature, yoga teacher trainings, vipasana retreats and a couple years living at Mount Madonna Center, a yoga community in the southern Santa Cruz mountains.
The study of environmentalism, and a love of travel, unfolded into exploration by bicycle and a series of bike tours through California, Oregon and Washington. The physical and the spiritual meet-up when on a bike tour. There's ample time to contemplate.
The study of yoga led to self-directed study of Ayurveda that continues to this day with research into works by Dr. Vasant Lad and Dr. Douillard. It was at a silent weekend retreat at Mount Madonna Center where I met Vanessa Stone and began volunteering with the Amala Foundation as a counselor at the Austin Global Youth Peace Summit. I eventually moved to Austin to continue studying energywork with Vanessa Stone. This work is steeped in the study of energetic anatomy, balancing the more subtle energy systems, and restoring our relationship with our true self. Practices include hands-on energetic bodywork, meditative inquiry and contemplative art and writing.
With this foundation I went on to pursue a graduate degree in Traditional Chinese and Integrative Medicine at AOMA Graduate School for Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas. Advanced studies were in orthopedics, fertility, and acupuncture for recovery as an Acudetox specialist. It was here I found an avenue for my personal interest in combining eating disorder/body dysmorphia recovery with alternative therapies to facilitate lasting healing and balance.
